As a resource for the company to draw upon, NanoBio has assembled a Scientific Advisor Board (SAB) including some of the nation’s most preeminent minds in areas of anti-infectives and infectious diseases. The role of the SAB is to advise the company on scientific strategy and to provide guidance on specific scientific issues. The composition of NanoBio's SAB is reflected below.
- Jay Birnbaum, PhD, has over 25 years of industry experience spanning the areas of discovery research, formulations, clinical R&D, regulatory, and marketing. He has been involved in the commercialization of numerous drug and consumer skin care products. Prior to starting his own consulting company, he was Vice President, Global Project Management, at Novartis Pharmaceuticals where he had responsibilities for strategic planning and development of the company's dermatology portfolio. During this period, he played a key role in the development, clinical trials, and launch of Lamisil®.
- David A. Relman, MD, Professor of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, and Microbiology and Immunology at the Stanford University Veterans Administration Medical Center. He is a worldwide expert in existing and emerging infectious diseases.
- Jerald C. Sadoff, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Aeras Global TB Vaccine Foundation. Dr. Sadoff came to Aeras from Merck, where he was the Executive Director of Clinical Development of Vaccines. Dr. Sadoff has spent more than three decades developing vaccines for dozens of diseases, from chicken pox to malaria. He serves on the NIAAD AIDS Vaccine Research Working Group and the Scientific Advisory Board of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative. Dr. Sadoff received his BA and MD from the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis.
- Richard
K. Scher, MD, FACP, is Professor of Dermatology at the University of
North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC and head of the Nail Disorders Program
there. He is an internationally known expert and pioneer in nail
disease diagnosis and treatment, surgery, and research. Dr. Scher is
a former President of the American Academy of Dermatology with over
200 publications on Nail Disorders and has been Chief Editor of the
AAD's award winning education program Dialogues in Dermatology.
- Lawrence R. Stanberry, MD, PhD, Professor, Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics of Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons and Pediatrician-in-Chief of Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian. Dr. Stanberry is an authority on neonatal herpes, the use of antiviral drugs, the management of genital herpes and other sexually transmitted infections, and the use of vaccines.
- Norman Weiner, PhD, Professor Emeritus of the Pharmacy School of the University of Michigan. Dr. Weiner is an expert in therapeutic based emulsion technology.
