James R. Baker, Jr., MD
Dr. Baker is Chairman of the Board of NanoBio, and serves as Executive Chairman and Chief Science Officer for the company. He is the inventor of the platform technology, founder of NanoBio and an internationally recognized expert in immunology and biologic nanotechnology. Dr. Baker invented the NanoStat technology at the University of Michigan, where he is the Ruth Dow Doan Professor of Medicine and Head of Allergy and Immunology at the Medical School. He is also the Director of the University of Michigan Nanotechnology Institute, which is focused on the use of nanotechnology in biomedical applications. He is one of three editors of the National Nanotechnology Initiative’s Research Directives, and Chairs the Nanotechnology for Medicine and Biology study section at National Institutes of Health (“NIH”). Dr. Baker is a board-certified internist, allergist and immunologist.
Norman C. Selby
Mr. Selby serves as Senior Managing Director, for Perseus LLC. He has lead responsibility for Perseus’ strategy and investments in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical products industries. Mr. Selby was formerly President and CEO of TransForm Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on innovation in the form and formulation of drug compounds that was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in April 2005. Prior to that, Mr. Selby was a Senior Officer at Citigroup/Citicorp, which he joined as Executive Vice President and head of Global Audit and Risk Review, and was a member of the Citicorp Management Committee. Mr. Selby was also a Director (Senior Partner) in the New York office of McKinsey & Company. In his 18 years at McKinsey, Mr. Selby’s work concentrated on strategy and organization issues for a variety of companies in the healthcare, consumer, communications, and manufacturing industries. He held several leadership roles at McKinsey, including head of the firm’s Global Pharmaceuticals Practice, head of the New York office’s Healthcare and Consumer Industry Practices, and member of the firm’s Principals Committee. From 1987 to 1989, Mr. Selby took a leave of absence from McKinsey to serve as Chief Operating Officer of the New York Blood Center, the largest community blood organization in the country, where he led its financial and operational turnaround. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Millennium Pharmaceuticals (MLNM), Medsite, Inc., Perseus Books, L.L.C., and NanoBio Corporation. He is also Chairman of Windhover Information, the leading B2B publishing and information company in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries. Mr. Selby serves on the Board of Trustees of the Central Park Conservancy and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, is a board member of the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention in Harlem, and is an advisory board member of Harvard Business School’s Healthcare Initiative.
Ronald M. Cresswell, PhD
Dr. Cresswell is the former Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of Warner-Lambert, and has served on the Board of Directors of Esperion Therapeutics, Inc., Allergan, Inc., Curagen Corporation, and Vasogen, Inc. He brings over 30 years of research and commercial development experience in various therapeutic areas to NanoBio. Dr. Cresswell began his tenure with Warner-Lambert in 1988 as the President of Research and Development of the Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research Division. From 1989-1998, he served as Vice President and Chairman of the Parke-Davis Worldwide Pharmaceutical Research Division. Dr. Cresswell’s vision and leadership in the development of Lipitor® at Parke-Davis was instrumental in the product's ultimate success. Dr. Cresswell joined Warner-Lambert from Laporte Industries, Ltd., an international chemical company, where he was Chief Operating Officer. Prior to this, Dr. Cresswell was with Burroughs Wellcome for over 20 years. At Burroughs Wellcome, he held a broad range of research and development positions in both the United Kingdom and the United States, and was responsible for a research staff of over 3,000 people.
Daniel B. Dubin, MD
Dr. Dubin currently serves as Vice Chairman and a Director at Leerink Swann, a leading healthcare and biotechnology investment banking firm. A Harvard-trained dermatologist, Dr. Dubin served as Ambulatory Medical Director of the dermatology practice at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In 1996, Dr. Dubin co-founded MEDACorp to provide life science companies and institutional investors with expert insight into the development and adoption of biopharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostics. When MEDACorp merged with Leerink Swann in 2001, Dr. Dubin became a Director at Leerink Swann and later assumed the position of Vice Chairman. Dr. Dubin also serves on the board of Elemé Medical, a cellulite treatment company.
Robert C. Moellering, Jr., MD
Dr. Moellering brings over 30 years of extensive medical experience to the NanoBio Board. He is broadly recognized as a worldwide expert in the areas of infectious diseases and antimicrobial technologies. Dr. Moellering is the Shields Warren-Mallinckrodt Professor of Medical Research at Harvard Medical School. From 1998 to 2005, he served as the Herrman Ludwig Blumgart Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Physician-in-Chief and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Moellering received his M.D. degree cum laude from Harvard Medical School and continued his distinguished career at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He has also served as President and CEO of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Moellering has been actively involved in research on the mechanisms of action and mechanisms of resistance of antimicrobial agents for the past 25 years. He has defined some of the important mechanisms of interaction of antimicrobial agents, which have been reported extensively in scientific journals. He is the Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, Editor of Infectious Disease Clinics of North America, and Editor of the European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
David M. Stout
David M. Stout has served as a top-level pharmaceutical executive both nationally and internationally for the past 30 years. His most recent position was President of Pharmaceutical Operations for GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals. In this capacity, Mr. Stout led all global commercial activities, global manufacturing and all vaccine-related activities for the company, including research and development. Additionally, Mr. Stout directed the corporate pandemic flu preparedness program, an international effort that supports governments, health authorities and company employees around the world in responding to a global influenza pandemic. Prior to his tenure at GSK, Mr. Stout served as President of SmithKline Beecham’s North American pharmaceutical business, launching two major products and two sales force expansions. Mr. Stout’s pharmaceutical career began at Warner-Lambert Pharmaceutical Company and continued at Schering-Plough Corporation, where he served in numerous positions, including President of Schering Laboratories.
